Inc Arts Ally for Change Partnership

What kind of Ally do you want to be?

Ally Membership

This is free. All you need to do to become an Ally Member is sign up to join us here. This means that you will receive our newsletter so you can stay abreast of developments around diversity in the UK’s cultural sector.

Under this banner you can also work with Inc Arts UK, hiring us to consult on diversity related issues and initiatives such as:

  • Hiring, recruitment and retention – including confidential employee feedback
  • Anti-racism and diversity strategies
  • Anti-racism and diversity messaging
  • Crisis management
  • Unconscious bias and diversity training
  • Skills Exchange Programmes
  • Policies and Procedures

Ally Partnership

For a yearly fee, almost all of the above is included. We will support you in your initiatives including reviewing documents and strategies, informal conversations, acting as your industry body for confidential advice, supporting you on messaging.

There will only be an additional charge for major pieces of work such as large scale training programmes, bespoke interventions specific to your organisation or co-running major initiatives with you. In these instances a separate consultancy fee will be charged.

What does it mean to be an Ally Partner?

This means you are committing to making positive change in the arts and cultural sector. We welcome your partnership with us as an Ally for Change partner.

To work with us:

  • You will nominate a Project Owner and can nominate a senior member of staff (Director, Head of Department) to be our contact point for your organisation.
  • You will also agree to have your HR lead work collaboratively and confidentially with us - this is in addition to your assigned point of contact.
  • You will work collaboratively with us in workshops, through surveys, and research, and pilot new approaches to hiring, recruitment and retention of staff, as well as build inclusive emotional wellbeing and support initiatives and partnerships with diverse-led organisations, to create mutually beneficial business resilience strategies.
  • A number of our partners are currently exploring a provocation we've developed. We call it 'the 1% challenge' and it looks at the possibility of dedicating 1% of each budget line to a specific, measurable action that builds diversity within the business.

Our work, and research is built from the perspectives and with the insights of our ethnically diverse members. We do not charge our ethnically diverse members - we do not want to mine the pain of lived experience and ask for payment to do so. We want to work together to make radical change.

Inc Arts Minds

Donations to the Inc Arts Minds initiative are separate from both Ally Membership and Ally for Change partnership. We are asking for a separate annual donation to support the emotional well-being of the ethnically diverse workforce who experience racism. We have not specified an amount as we welcome all contributions. However as a guideline it might help you to know that we've gratefully received donations ranging from £200 (from individual producers) to £10,000 from an established production company.
